Run chessed where you live
Become an admin
All Things Chessed has no head office deciding what happens in your city. Each community is run by volunteer admins who live there — they post the requests, keep the group healthy, and know who needs what.
What an admin actually does
Post what comes in
Someone messages you privately with a need. You post it to the group without their name attached, so people can quietly step forward.
Keep the group healthy
Welcome new members, keep it on topic, and step in when something needs a human rather than a rule.
Know your city
Over time you become the person who knows which family is struggling and who has a van. That's the whole job, and it can't be done from anywhere else.
Honestly, how much time?
Most admins spend a few minutes a day and a bit longer around holidays. It is not a second job. Busier communities usually run with two or three admins sharing it, which is also what makes it sustainable — nobody should be the only one holding a city.
